Tournament rules

  1. The open is a Swiss system (9 rounds) Rapid Play tournament (15 minutes and an increment of 5 seconds / player). The blitz is 13 rounds. The FIDE laws of chess, version 1st July 2017, are applied.
  2. The final ranking order of the players is determined by the number of points scored. If at the end of the tournament two or more players are tied for the first place or for any prize, the tie shall be broken in accordance to the following criteria:
    1. sum of progressive scores
    2. Median Buchholz (the Buchholz score reduced by the two highest and the two lowest scores of the opponents)
  3. Pairings and rankings are generated by computer using the Swiss Chess program (version 8.89, February 2014 or later)
  4. The main prizes are distributed according to the Hort system. The total number of prizes is defined in such way that the last player receives at least 20 €
  5. Prizes for different categories as well as the main prizes cannot be cumulated. Only the highest prize is allocated.
  6. The schedule is published on the Web-Site
  7. The zero tolerance rule will not be enforced. Instead a default time of 15 minutes shall apply.
  8. For rapid chess appendix A4 will apply, for blitz appendix B4
  9. Decisions of the arbiter are final, FIDE rule 11.10 does not apply.
  10. Switched off mobil phones and other electronic devices may be carried in a player's bag.  This bag should not be used during play, like specified in FIDE rules 11.3.2.1
